Rackham recognizes Eric Cook with GSI award

Doctoral student Eric Cook was among the 20 outstanding graduate student instructors from around campus recognized Friday, April 17 with an Outstanding Graduate Student Instructor Award for 2008-09. The award was presented by the Rackham School of Graduate Studies.

The awards recognize GSIs who demonstrate exceptional ability and creativity as teachers, continuous growth as teachers, growth as scholars in the course of their graduate programs, and service as outstanding mentors and advisors to their students, colleagues, and others in need of their help. Eric received a certificate of award and a stipend of $1,000.

The guest speaker was Celeste Brusati, professor of history of art and women’s studies, and chair of the Department of History of Art. She spoke on “Good-Enough Mentors.”

In addition to the GSI awards, the program featured awards to faculty members for distinguished mentoring.
